Hello! And Happy New Year. I hope you weren’t expecting a light recipe from me to celebrate the beginning of 2012, because I definitely don’t have that for you. Sorry! I’ve never been one to let go of sweets very easily. In fact, I’d say one of my resolutions for 2012 is to eat more dessert. I’m going to live life to the fullest in every sense of the phrase. I just better keep running…
With sugary intentions for myself (and hopefully for you, too), I’ve got these Nutella brownies to share with you. I think it’s safe to say I’m a Nutella convert after making Nutella cookies for Christmas. I’m pretty sure it’d taste good on or in just about anything. Yep, anything. Nutella chicken, anyone? Ooo, imagine Nutella ravioli!
With a boxed brownie mix and suuuper quick and easy frosting, you’ll be enjoying these in no time at all. Delicious dessert certainly does not need to be difficult, guys! Hey, maybe you can use the time you save making these to get in a quick workout… see? I’m keeping you healthy with easy desserts already.
Dense and fudge-like Nutella brownies topped with an incredibly simple Nutella “whipped cream” frosting. Serves 16 Prep time: 15 minutes Cook time: 30 minutes Brownies: Heat the oven to 350 degrees F. Spray an 8- or 9-inch square pan lightly with nonstick cooking spray, then line with parchment paper. In a large mixing bowl, combine the brownie mix, eggs, oil, water, and Nutella. Stir with a wooden spoon until just mixed. Spread into the prepared pan. Bake 25 to 30 minutes or until inserted toothpick comes out nearly clean. Cool the brownies completely before frosting. Meanwhile, in a small mixing bowl, fold the Cool Whip into the Nutella until blended. Spread over the cooled brownies; refrigerate 2 hours before cutting.

Haha, sorry!! But hey, looking at pictures is calorie-free
Nutella would prob be my last meal if I were on death row… well, with some ice cream, of course!
Mmm, I really actually want to make Nutella ice cream!
OMG. I’ve literally been making nutella cookies for three weeks straight. Obviously I have to try these too. You are amazing.
Yes, make the brownies – I think they might be better than the cookies!
I made Nutella brownies, too…and there is just nothing better. Yum on yours!
I’ve never really been much of a brownie person but these made me think otherwise… I may be resolving to eat more brownies in 2012!
I love how you added Nutella into the mixture itself. Nutella is an amazing thing!
It definitely is!
they look incredibly good! so rich and perfect for indulging
Ugh ugh ugh. DROOL! These look amazing! I MUST try them!! : )
You see the reason I don’t make resolutions is because I won’t be able to resist a Nutella brownie like what you have on the picture…Or perhaps I can make my resoltuion go something like, eat more sweets…
Haha! Anyway, I’ll go and run some more then…I’ll start baking this treat as soon as I am done sweating. Thanks for sharing a yummy recipe. Nutella rocks!!!
Exactly… no point in making resolutions to be disappointed when you “can’t” eat something that looks good. I agree, run a little bit, then bake a little bit. Moderation and balance
Happy new year to you too! These sound great.
Oh yeah. I know what I’m doing with my Friday!!!!
Brownies & Friday sound like a perfect match to me! Oh, and Nutella!
I love this idea for a frosting! Yum, anything is better with Nutella!
I totally agree; nutella goes great with anything. These brownies look fabulous!!
What a great idea! Can you really still taste the Nutella in the midst of all of that chocolate? I guess I’ll have to try it and find out!
The Nutella definitely a distant flavor in the brownies themselves, but it is definitely there in the frosting!!
Liz, I tried making these brownies – they sounded really good – but they were an oily, inedible mess. Your recipe doesn’t mention using a prepared brownie mix (i.e., making the mix according to the directions, and then adding extra ingredients), but I’m wondering in retrospect if that’s what you meant.
I’m sorry, Lindsey! My recipe could have been a little more descriptive – I left the eggs off! Did you add eggs? If not, I bet that is the problem. Oh man, I feel like I owe you a batch!
Liz, does the recipe call for us to prepare the brownie mix as directed on the box, then add the addition ingredients that you listed? I am somewhat confused.
Hi Rosalyn – no, don’t prepared the brownie mix as directed on the box. Just take the dry brownie mix, and then add the ingredients I list. Does that make sense? Let me know if not
