Easy 3-2-1 Sugar Cookie Dough Dip

December 16, 2011 · 30 comments

It’s Friday night, and the moon is bright… gonna have some fun, show you how it’s done… TGIF!

Ah, remember the good old days of Friday nights with the Tanner’s and Steve Urkel?  We used to have the best TGIF every Friday in our house growing up, since Friday night was pizza night, too.  My parents actually still do Friday night pizza night, but unfortunately, I can’t turn on ABC to see what trouble the kids on Step By Step are getting themselves into.  Oh, well…

I was going to save this little bonus cookie-inspired recipe for next week, but it was sitting here ready to be posted and the excitement of Friday night got to me.  So, enjoy!

I have to admit, I went through a little (albeit, brief) patch a few days ago where I wanted nothing to do with any cookie.  Too much of a good thing, I thought.  Don’t worry, though, that was nothing a good night’s sleep couldn’t fix.  By the next day I was back to my regular cookie-loving self. :)

I do think all these cookies are getting to my head a little bit, though.  I mean, who the heck makes dip with a sugar cookie mix?

Oh, right… the girl who makes dip with boxes of cake mix.  Also, same girl who couldn’t use her sugar cookie mix to bake cookies, since she decided to make all of her Christmas cookies from one base dough

Christmas or no Christmas, add this dip to your list of things to make… just do it… it’s too easy not to!

Yummy!
Have you tried the cookie butter at Trader Joe’s yet???

I think it would be a fabulous addition to your dip!

I haven’t tried it (we don’t have TJ’s wear I live) but I’ve asked my sister to bring some home for Christmas – can’t wait to try it!

I LOVED TGIF. Oh my goodness. My brother and I would be glued to the TV every Friday night. Hangin’ with Mr. Cooper!!!

We used to have TGIF sleepovers with all our friends :) It’s sort of sad to think that kids these days don’t have a fun TV night like that! Although they have lots of other neat things to distract themselves with…

This sounds incredible! I know I would just eat it with a spoon though…

Haha yes, I recommended eating with pretzels or graham crackers but of course, a spoon works too ;)

This looks so delish, how creative I can’t wait to make it. I showed it to my 17 year old brother and he said, “make it right now”. That would be his stamp of approval on the dip. Perhaps we will have it with cocoa on christmas eve.

I’m glad I have his approval! Let me know if you try it!

@ the person who mentioned cookie butter – I saw it today and got some. I’ve tried the Lotus brand Biscoff spread, which is essentially the same thing, and it’s just so weird – the consistency of peanut butter, but with the flavor of gingersnaps. I think it’s best used in recipes like this one or maybe slathered on top of a muffin or something like that.

This dip looks interesting – we have a huge bag of Krusteaz sugar cookie mix, so I’ll have to try it. Wondering if you could use cream cheese in place of the yogurt, though. Not a fan of the tang of yogurt in stuff like this.

I haven’t tried the cookie butter yet, but I like your idea of spreading it on top of a muffin…

Hmm, you could try replacing the yogurt with cream cheese, but since cream cheese is so much thicker, you should definitely use less! I would just play with the amount until it looks about the consistency you want. Let me know if you try it, I’d be interested to see how it turns out!

genius, easy, and I bet sooo good!

I love no bake things like this, especially when it’s hot (here) and I dont want to turn on my oven…but still want the flavor. YUM!

I wish it were hot enough here where I didn’t want to turn on the oven! It’s actually the opposite though – baking warms the house (and us) up!

I love how simple this is! Definite Friday night good life. I loved TGIF! My husband and I always say that when we have kids, we’re going to buy the DVD’s of all the old shows and recreate it for them.

Haha, that’s such a good idea! Heck, I would watch DVD’s of Full House without kids!

Since my whole fam is already obsessed with the Cake batter Dip, I might as well try this out, too. :-)

what is the consistency supposed to be? I am making this right now for a party tomorrow and it seems runny!! HELP

Hmmm, mine was definitely not runny but I used Greek you’re which tends to be a bit thicker. Try adding more cookie mix?

I added a lot of cookie mix too…and its not looking white like the picture. Its like a cake batter consistency & flavor

That’s really odd! It definitely shouldn’t be thick the way cookie dough is, but should be thicker than cake batter. Might because of the kind of yogurt you used? That’s all I can think of… hopefully it still tastes good!

SUCH a great idea!! I made a test batch (3T mix, 2T plain yogurt (not greek), and 1T cool whip). The consistency was fine, just too much “twang” for my taste. So I took someone else’s idea to use cream cheese. I used 3 cups mix, 8 oz cream cheese (softened), and an entire tub of cool whip. Mixed it together and ended up needing my hand mixer and about 1/3 cup of half & half and a splash of vanilla. It was TO DIE FOR!! The dip went to a work party and the bowl was empty before everyone left. I’d say – s u c c e s s.

Glad you were able to adapt the recipe to make it your own, Tricia! I love easy dips like this – everyone loves them but it’s minimal work for you – a win for everyone!

How did you get your dip to be so fluffy and more icing like? Mine came out more of a yogurt consistency.

Hi Jenna – Hmm, I’m not sure how – if it doesn’t seem as fluffy as you’d like it to be, add a bit more Cool Whip, that should help. Also, stir the dip lightly, so that you don’t beat the air out of it. Good luck, if you try it again!
